Week 35

What to write this week, I don't really know. The hurricane Katrina is terrorizing New Orleans and the surrounding area currently, and I hope it won't be so bad as the media wants you to believe. But who knows about these things before it actually happens.

August is coming to an end soon, and Autumn starts. Amusement parks are shutting down, or have already shut down during the last weekend. The weather is getting colder, and when it rains, it's not warm anymore.

Oh, and I'm tired like a tire who got bored of rolling around and turned into a square. Stayed up too late and woke up too early. I don't really have anything to say, or I'm just too tired to think about anything relevant. I guess I'll update this post later on if I can think of something. Later.

Oh, and Juicy Fruiter, if it's really you (I'd prefer that people would use their blog nicks when they comment) who commented on the last post, I've read your blog. It doesn't have much content yet (not saying that I have anything useful to say), but it's pretty good :)

First update: I've also noticed that I've become more skillful in making an ass of myself when drunk. I guess PenguinJim isn't the best possible influence around ;). And the situation in New Orleans doesn't seem to be too bad, from the reports of what I've heard. The hurricane went down to a cat 3 and has already passed New Orleans and is weakening all the time. By tomorrow morning it should only be a tropical storm, if the current predictions come true :)

Second update: pumps have failed at New Orleans. A part of the city is flooded with almost 2 meters of water :(

Third update: weather experts said hours ago that the worst should be over in New Orleans, but it looks otherwise. Not directly caused by the hurricane, but extensive damage to various structures. The story develops by the hour.

Money money money

Been lookin' at the financial situation, especially next month. And...I'm going to need lots of $$$ for next month. Temporary accommodation costs like $700 for a few weeks and food isn't free (breakfast is though). Then I need to pay a bond (or at least it's highly possible) and weekly rents when I find the right apartment. So to get through the first month, I need more cash than usual. So my next mission is to arrange the financial situation in a way that I won't be left living in the streets after the first month. The loan I got has been pretty much spent on necessities, well the first part of the loan anyway. Argh. There's always something wrong, dammit.

Anyway, I have to go again.

Jolstralian

Yes! I'm now officially accepted to come to Australia, the visa application passed. I can hang around in Australia until May 12th 2006 and the visa is valid from this day forth. I was a bit unsure about it, but luckily everything went fine.

/me does the happy dance he stole from Dig

Ok, nothing else to add really. I'm just happy happy happy happy. I only need to get the travel insurance, and I'm ready to go.

The trip approaches

5 weeks and 2 days to go. I'm almost through with the necessary preparations. I paid the tuition fee today and hopefully I'll be able to apply for the visa next week. That's about it really, unless I have to find a hotel, but that question is yet to be answered. And I do have to get that travel insurance, but it shouldn't be a problem. Of course I have some other smaller issues to attend to as well, like getting new shoes. But the necessary preparations are soon to be over :)

What else do I have to report...hmmm. I guess that's about it really. But I'm off to watch some telly before going to bed. Didn't sleep to well last night, dunno why, so I want to go to bed a bit earlier this time around.

Thursday update: got a reply to the mail I sent to the school and everything is looking fine

Monday ahoy!

Another week started, and the week is young. It's not even 1:00 yet. Last Friday my first review went online, and I know it could have been better. I could have covered many aspects that I didn't even talk about. But it doesn't matter because I'm not one of those professional reviewer types. There just never is enough laptop reviews around, professional or not. That's the main reason I wrote something about it.

Oh, and if you haven't noticed already, Jeff Goldblum is watching you poop. So don't forget to look in the toilet before you poop.

That is all for now.

Have you ever seen the rain?

Someone told me long ago
There's a calm before the storm
I know
It's been coming for some time
When it's over so they say
It'll rain on a sunny day
I know
Shining down like water

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Coming down on a sunny day

Yesterday and days before
Sun is cold and rain is hard
I know
It's been that way for all my time
Till forever on it goes
Through the circle fast and slow
I know
And it can't stop I wonder

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Coming down on a sunny day

I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
I wanna know
Have you ever seen the rain?
Coming down on a sunny day

That pretty much sums up what has happened since the last blog post.

August and rain

It's been a rainy couple of weeks and now it's August. People in Finland are crying over the summer that passed away so quickly again. Although I'm not crying as the real summer is still ahead of me, when it's winter here in Finland. I've also been looking at F1 tickets for the Australian GP next year, and the prices aren't bad at all. I'm really tempted to go and see the (dying?) F1 world first hand :)

My first ever article went live today at EB, thanks to some help from other EB staff members. Mostly Hanners is to "blame" for it, as he asked me to write something about Vista :). I tried to not go too much under the skin, because if you go that way, you have to write about more technical stuff. Getting technical and telling people how stuff works is good of course, but I don't know if I'd have enough interest in the matter to write about it in detail. And I'd have to of course study the different functions more closely myself to properly understand everything that's going on. I've been lazy the whole vacation and I'm not going to be arsed to do that ;)

Anyway, I'm off to eat something. I'm starving.
